Job Description

This position is offered by a reputable hospitality establishment specializing in food and beverage service, operating a full-service bar within a club or similar environment. The company is dedicated to providing an exceptional experience to its members and guests through professional services and high-quality beverage offerings. Known for upholding strict policies regarding the service of alcoholic beverages and maintaining safety and sanitation standards, the organization strives to foster an inviting and respectful atmosphere. Their commitment to excellence is reflected in their comprehensive training programs and established standard operating procedures, aimed at delivering consistent and superior guest satisfaction.

The role of Bartender is a full-time, non-exempt position reporting directly to the Food and Beverage Managers. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, pouring, and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages with expertise in mixology, including knowledge of food and wine pairings as well as wine presentation and service. This position requires an individual who thrives in a dynamic environment, delivering attentive service with a strong understanding of beverage standards, club policies, and state laws governing alcohol service.

Bartenders play a vital role in maintaining the bar's readiness by inspecting and stocking supplies before opening, preparing garnishes and pre-mixed drinks, and operating espresso machines for coffee orders. They actively engage with members and guests by providing excellent customer service, carefully mixing drinks as per approved recipes, and managing portable bar setups for various events. The position requires attention to detail in inventory management by maintaining accurate records of liquors, beers, and wines to ensure availability at all times.

Beyond drink preparation, bartenders uphold cleanliness and organization of the bar area and equipment, follow strict closing procedures including secure locking of the bar, and make certain that all food items are properly stored, labeled, and rotated to prevent health or safety risks. This role involves frequent communication with management regarding guest feedback, complaints, and special requests to ensure continuous improvement of service quality. Additionally, bartenders must adhere to club policies concerning attendance, timekeeping, dress code, and safety standards.

The role demands physical endurance including standing for extended periods, walking, climbing stairs, and the ability to lift or move items up to 50 pounds. Applicants should be prepared to work in varying environmental conditions such as hot, humid, cold, or rainy weather. The bartender must also demonstrate strong problem-solving skills and effective communication capabilities as they engage regularly with the public and other team members.

Preferred qualifications for this position include a high school diploma or GED and at least one year of bartending experience. The candidate must hold relevant certifications for alcoholic beverage service and food safety, and be legally eligible to serve alcohol. Proficiency in using Point of Sale (POS) systems, particularly club-specific or comparable systems, is advantageous.

Core competencies for success include thorough knowledge of department operations, the ability to interpret and work with Banquet Event Orders, and the capability to function effectively during both small and large events with minimal supervision. The bartender will be expected to train or oversee co-workers when necessary and complete additional duties as assigned. Reliability in attendance and compliance with all club policies are essential to maintaining the high standards expected by the establishment.
