Job Description
The Club Five Six operates as part of a Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) agency dedicated to providing Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (MWR) services for the Air Force and Space Force communities. This establishment plays a pivotal role in fostering a vibrant and enjoyable atmosphere for service members and their families by offering a full-service bar experience. As a key facility within the MWR activities, the Club Five Six is committed to delivering high-quality hospitality and entertainment focusing on relaxation and socialization for its patrons. The club functions with a focus on flexibility and often engages part-time positions to meet varying guest demands without guaranteed hours or associated traditional benefits.
This flexible, Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) position at the Club Five Six is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, customer-centered environments and possess strong skills in bartending and cash handling. The role involves operating a full-service bar where the mixology of a wide array of alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks is required, utilizing established recipes and occasionally developing creative drink combinations like Margaritas, Zombies, and Singapore Slings from scratch. The position demands physical capability, including frequently lifting objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pushing and pulling items between 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lifting heavier objects over 40 pounds. These requirements ensure the bartender is fully capable of handling stock and bar equipment efficiently.
Bartenders at Club Five Six are responsible for providing exceptional customer service by delivering drinks either directly to patrons or through bar waiters, as well as managing monetary transactions using cash registers accurately. The role also emphasizes inventory accountability and the proper operation of the bar, reflecting the need for precision and integrity in handling receipts and documentation. Given its military-affiliated environment, applicants must successfully complete a background check and meet specific employment conditions such as food handler certification and adherence to age requirements for alcohol service in Arizona. The position requires a pre-employment physical and the willingness to comply with the installation's ID and residency prerequisites.
While this position does not guarantee fixed work hours or traditional employment benefits, it provides a unique opportunity to contribute to a respected government-affiliated recreational facility that supports the morale and welfare of military personnel and their families. Ideal candidates will exhibit a passion for hospitality, an ability to recognize and handle intoxicated or unruly patrons diplomatically, and a strong understanding of drink mixing and bar operations. Experience within federal employment frameworks or MWR programs is advantageous but not mandatory, as this role also opens doors to applicants from varied backgrounds including military spouses, veterans, and transition hires. Through working here, candidates not only enhance their bartending skills but also partake in a broader mission-oriented environment promoting community and camaraderie among military members.
