Proudly positioned in the heart of downtown Portland, The Heathman blends classic elegance with contemporary comfort, creating a unique atmosphere that honors its cultural legacy while offering modern amenities and services. Guests experience a warm and inviting environment that reflects both the history of the city and the evolving tastes of today's traveler.

The hotel is part of the esteemed Makeready collection, renowned for maintaining excellent standards of service and guest satisfaction. Employment opportunities at The Heathman offer positions that emphasize professional growth, competitive wage structures, and comprehensive benefits designed to support employee well-being.

The role being offered is for a Bartender who will be an integral member of The Heathman's food and beverage team. This position is responsible for preparing and serving both alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages according to established recipes and service guidelines. A successful candidate will provide attentive, warm, and engaging service that aligns with the hotel’s high standards of hospitality. They will actively contribute to creating memorable guest experiences by anticipating needs, personalizing service, and collaborating closely with culinary and service teams.

In addition to beverage preparation and service, the Bartender will oversee cleanliness, organization, and presentation of the bar and surrounding areas. They will ensure proper setup and breakdown of the bar for morning service operations and manage accurate processing of guest orders, payments, and cash handling. Commitment to responsible alcohol service is paramount, requiring adherence to local laws and company policies. The role also involves assisting with inventory management, stocking supplies, preparing garnishes, and completing daily side work duties.

The Heathman provides a flexible work schedule with availability required for mornings, weekends, and holidays. Physical demands of the job include the ability to stand and walk for extended periods and the capacity to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Employment with The Heathman and the Makeready collection offers an impressive suite of benefits including paid time off with exchange options, medical, dental, and vision insurance, maternity and paternity leave, pet insurance, company-matched dependent care and 401(k) plans, a student loan repayment program, and an array of additional ancillary benefits.

Makeready LLC, the parent company, champions an inclusive workplace culture where individuality is respected and where team members are empowered to succeed based on qualifications, experience, and performance without discrimination. This commitment to diversity and equitable opportunity strengthens The Heathman’s dedication to exceptional service and fostering a positive work environment. Team members take pride in upholding Makeready’s Guiding Principles, which shape cooperative and respectful interactions throughout the workplace.
