Job Description

Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a well-established restaurant brand that combines the vibrant culture of Louisiana with a fun, high-energy gameday atmosphere. Founded by two former LSU walk-on basketball players in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Walk-On's has transformed from a single restaurant into a nationally recognized chain while maintaining its deep roots in teamwork, hustle, and the spirit of the underdog. Known for its scratch-made dishes with a distinctive Louisiana flair and an abundance of wall-to-wall TVs that bring the excitement of sports to every guest, Walk-On's is much more than a dining destination. It is a community hub where fans gather to enjoy great food, drinks, and the camaraderie that comes with any big game or event. The establishment prides itself on fostering a welcoming environment filled with energy, passion, and a true sense of family among its team members.

The role of Bartender at Walk-On's is essential to maintaining the vibrant and lively atmosphere that guests expect. As a key member of the front-of-house team, the bartender is responsible for being the face of the bar, greeting every guest with enthusiasm, and delivering excellent service that keeps the celebration going. This part-time, non-exempt position reports directly to the Manager on Duty and requires a dynamic individual who can mix and serve a variety of beverages, from craft cocktails to cold beers. The bartender not only crafts drinks but also ensures compliance with all alcohol laws by verifying IDs and serving responsibly. This role demands someone who is quick on their feet, organized, and capable of working efficiently in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

The job involves more than just mixing drinks; it requires a bartender who understands the menu inside and out, can recommend drinks and specials with confidence, and contributes to maintaining a bar that is always stocked, organized, and ready for gameday action. Handling cash and credit transactions with accuracy and speed is another important responsibility, as is supporting teammates by serving food, running drinks, and ensuring every guest has a memorable experience. Building strong relationships with regular guests by learning their names and preferences is highly encouraged to cultivate loyalty and repeat visits. Maintaining cleanliness, from washing glassware to wiping down surfaces, helps uphold the high standards of the bar area.

Candidates for this role must meet legal age requirements for alcohol service, hold current state-required certifications, and demonstrate friendly and outgoing personalities. Knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits is valuable, especially familiarity with current cocktail trends. Physical stamina to stand and move for long shifts, strong communication skills, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds are necessary. Flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and during gameday events is also required. Walk-On's values positive attitudes, teamwork, integrity, and the desire to provide outstanding hospitality.

Working at Walk-On's offers many benefits including a lively, supportive team culture, flexible scheduling suitable for students or those with other commitments, and opportunities for career advancement. The company is committed to diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity employment, fostering an environment where every employee can grow and succeed. This position is ideal for individuals who want to be part of a winning team, delivering excellent service with passion and pride in a gameday setting that truly feels like play.
