The role of Bartender at Chevy Chase Country Club is a vital position responsible for enhancing the guest experience through professional beverage service. This is a part-time, tip-eligible position that reports directly to the Event Manager and does not entail supervisory duties. Bartenders play a key role in event execution by setting up and breaking down bar areas, preparing and serving a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, and ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and club policies. Candidates must be flexible to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays to support the club's event schedule.

Bartenders at Chevy Chase Country Club are expected to maintain a clean and organized workspace, accurately handle cash and inventory transactions using the POS system, and provide excellent customer service by answering guest inquiries related to events. The position demands individuals who take pride in their personal appearance and professionalism, as they represent the club’s commitment to quality and hospitality. In addition to beverage service, bartenders may assist with food plating and must be willing to work at various bars within the facility, including the Grand Ballroom, Devonshire Room, Gable Room, and mobile bars.

This role requires certification in TIPS/BASSET and Safe Food Handling, with the expectation that new hires obtain these within 60 days if not already certified. A minimum of two to three years of bartending experience is preferred, although a high school diploma is not mandatory. Candidates must be at least 21 years of age and demonstrate strong judgment, confidentiality, and communication skills. Physical demands include the ability to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 25 pounds, and perform tasks requiring coordination and focus. Working conditions are primarily indoors, with occasional outdoor exposure while traveling between park facilities.

Job Requirements

  • Two to three years’ experience as a bartender
  • High school diploma desired but not necessary
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and confidentiality
  • Must be TIPS/BASSET certified or able to obtain certification within 60 days
  • Must have Safe Food Handler Certification or able to obtain within 60 days
  • Must be at least 21 years of age

Job Duties

  • Collects and interprets all paperwork generated for the event being worked
  • Inspects bar area prior to opening and ensures that adequate supplies are available for the impending shift
  • Prepares garnishes, mixes, pre-mixed drinks and completes set-up requirements
  • Mixes, prepares and serves drinks according to recipes approved by management
  • Collects money
  • Maintains records of all bar-stock items using provided inventory sheets in each bar and stock rooms
  • Uses POS system to record cash/inventory transactions
  • At shift end, reconciles cash to orders taken
  • Maintains and cleans all equipment
  • Cleans and secures station in accordance with established closing procedures
  • Consistently complies with the state, local and agency laws/policies regarding the sale and disposition of alcoholic beverages
  • Answers any questions from guests about the event and provides descriptions of the timeline and food and beverage available
  • Maintains proper personal appearance, wears name tags and uniforms
  • Works at any bar in facility as directed by management
  • Assists with food plate up in the kitchen when needed
  • Provides drink service to guest tables
  • Works as scheduled
  • Participates in required training and safety programs
  • Supports and exhibits organizational values
  • Performs special projects or other duties as assigned
