The role of the bartender is crucial in ensuring that patrons have a wonderful time at the bar. This position involves taking customer orders, preparing a wide range of conventional and unique cocktails, recommending beer and wine selections, and consistently maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area. The ideal candidate is highly motivated, well-organized, and driven by a positive customer service mindset. This fast-paced role requires someone who enjoys interacting with diverse groups of people and working efficiently under pressure while paying close attention to detail.

In this role, the bartender will also be responsible for managing inventory, ordering stock, and ensuring that the bar is fully supplied with all necessary glassware and beverages. The bartender will enforce all applicable federal, state, and local laws regarding the sale and service of alcoholic beverages, including verifying customer ages through proper identification. Additionally, the bartender will handle payment transactions, settle patron checks and tabs using a point of sale system, and accurately record daily sales totals.

Job Requirements

  • Completed high school or equivalent GED certificate
  • Prior experience in food service or bartending is preferred
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong communication skills
  • Basic math skills for handling transactions
  • Legally allowed to serve alcohol according to local laws
  • Availability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

Job Qualifications

  • Prior food service industry experience is highly desired
  • Proven customer service experience with a strong patron-focused mentality
  • Candidates must have completed high school or received similar certification GED
  • Possesses strong organizational and time management skills
  • Display excellent communication and interpersonal skills with customers and coworkers

Job Duties

  • Perform all restocking and cleaning activities as directed including opening and closing duties
  • Properly identify customers' age through identification cards and serve alcoholic beverages following all applicable federal state local and company rules and regulations
  • Mix and deliver drinks to customers including alcoholic and non-alcoholic varieties of wine beer liquor and mixed drinks
  • Receive payments and settle patron checks and tabs as well as correctly record daily sales totals in point of sale system
  • Responsible for inventory ordering and stocking of all wine liquor and beer
  • Maintains an inventory of glassware and promptly communicates any shortages to management
