Job Description

Cheba Hut is a unique and vibrant establishment that started its journey in 1998 in Tempe, Arizona. Built on a vision to create tasty, stoner-approved toasted subs and munchies made from scratch, Cheba Hut has grown into a laid-back, welcoming place for both employees and customers. The company prides itself on fostering a relaxed environment where people can escape the daily grind and enjoy real food crafted by real people. At Cheba Hut, individuality is celebrated, and the atmosphere is one of camaraderie and fun, making it an attractive workplace for those looking to break away from mundane, growth-limited jobs. The work culture is defined by an authentic, no-nonsense attitude, with no uniforms, no scripts, and zero tolerance for anything fake or superficial.

The role in question is for a Bartender at Cheba Hut, a position that embraces much more than just mixing drinks. This is a regular, variable hour employment opportunity requiring 30 or more hours per week. The pay range is between $12.14 and $31.50 per hour, including tips, which reflects both the skill and dedication required for this role. As a bartender, you are entrusted with a wide range of responsibilities that go beyond serving beverages. Working closely with your Managers on Duty (MOD), Assistant General Manager (AGM), and General Manager (GM), you ensure that all bartending tasks meet the company's high standards while strictly upholding all liquor laws to protect the establishment's licensing and reputation.

Your bartending duties include creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests, making sure all team members adhere to the bar’s policies, and enforcing a responsible drinking environment. You will manage deliveries, inventory, and maintain cleanliness and order in your workspace. Your interaction with customers will be an essential part of the role – providing excellent customer service, suggesting daily specials, and making sure every visitor has the quintessential Cheba bar experience. Daily tasks also involve taking phone orders, assisting third-party delivery drivers, managing the expo station, and maintaining the lobby and patio areas.

Cheba Hut values bartenders who can operate safely, communicate respectfully with customers and staff, and work well under pressure. Those with ServSafe and/or TIPS certification will find themselves well-prepared to maintain food and beverage safety standards. The ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods, and manage a physically demanding shift is expected. Additionally, bartenders need to be actively engaged with the community and events, consistently promoting specials and keeping the bar area vibrant and customer-friendly.

Cheba Hut offers an enviable benefits package including medical, dental, and vision insurance, accident and disability coverage, virtual healthcare services, life insurance, and a 401k plan with company match. Employees receive free Cheba Hut swag, meals, bar drinks, and access to free concert tickets. The work environment is inclusive, supportive, and dedicated to equal opportunity, valuing diversity and fostering a culture of respect and growth. Join Cheba Hut to be part of a dynamic team where you can thrive, express yourself freely, and take pride in the craft of bartending within a truly exceptional setting.
