Job Description

This hotel is a distinguished establishment located in the heart of Virginia's capital, Richmond, known for its rich historical significance and vibrant urban culture. Housed within the iconic Miller & Rhoads building, the hotel offers guests a unique blend of historic charm combined with modern luxury and conveniences. With 250 elegantly appointed rooms and 17,634 square feet of total event space distributed across 13 versatile meeting rooms, this property is perfectly suited for both business and leisure travelers. It serves as a premier destination for visitors attending events at nearby venues such as the Richmond Convention Center and the Virginia State Capitol, both just steps away. The hotel features various on-site dining options including La Grotta and 1885 Cafe & Market, complemented by a stylish lobby bar named Gather & Hem. Additional amenities include an indoor pool, a comprehensive fitness center, electric vehicle charging stations, and dedicated banquet and meeting support services, all designed to enhance guest experience and comfort.

The role of Bartender in the Food & Beverage department is pivotal to the hotel's commitment to exceptional service and guest satisfaction. Reporting to the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager or Food & Beverage Manager, the bartender is responsible for preparing and serving a wide array of beverages including cocktails, beer, and wine, according to standardized recipes. This position demands a high level of customer interaction, requiring strong communication skills and a friendly, engaging demeanor to greet guests, take orders efficiently, and provide knowledgeable recommendations. The bartender must also ensure the cleanliness and organization of the bar area, including counters, equipment, and glassware, maintaining a safe and orderly environment throughout their shift.

Ideal candidates will possess at least one year of bartending or high-volume restaurant/bar experience, alongside knowledge of mixology, drink recipes, and POS systems. They should be well-versed in the responsible service of alcohol, including understanding and adhering to state and local regulations. The role requires physical stamina, including the ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods, and demands excellent cash-handling and basic mathematical skills to process payments accurately. Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of accuracy and cleanliness are essential for success in this position. The bartender will also be involved in routine tasks such as restocking supplies, verifying guest identification, and assisting with opening and closing duties. Overall, this is an excellent opportunity for hospitality professionals seeking a dynamic work environment that balances historic ambiance with modern service excellence.
