Job Description
Walk-On's Sports Bistreaux is a well-known restaurant chain that embodies the spirit of Louisiana with its scratch-made dishes, vibrant atmosphere, and a passionate dedication to creating great experiences for its guests. Founded in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by two Louisiana State University walk-on basketball players, Walk-On's started as a humble dream and quickly grew into a nationally recognized brand. What makes Walk-On's distinct is its combination of a lively gameday ambiance, rich food heritage, and a team-first culture that makes it more than just a place to eat — it is a community hub for sports lovers and families alike. The restaurant chain specializes in delivering scratch-made, flavorful Louisiana-inspired meals while ensuring every guest feels part of the game day excitement. The core values at Walk-On's underpin its success and culture: teamwork, hospitality, passion, growth, and community. These principles reflect the company's commitment to creating memorable moments and a positive work environment for all employees.
The role of the bartender at Walk-On's is integral to the guest experience. As a bartender, you become the face of the bar, offering warm welcomes backed by energy, smiles, and a friendly demeanor. Beyond simply mixing drinks, bartenders are charged with crafting cocktails, pouring beers, and serving beverages that keep the festive mood alive. The position is part-time and non-exempt, reporting directly to the manager on duty, and requires adherence to all alcohol service laws and certifications, reflecting the company's emphasis on responsible service.
Bartenders at Walk-On's play multiple roles during their shifts — from handling cash and credit transactions accurately to keeping the bar stocked and organized at all times. They also contribute to maintaining cleanliness by washing glassware and wiping down surfaces, ensuring a bar as visually appealing as it is efficient. Additionally, bartenders are encouraged to build relationships with patrons by learning names and preferences to foster loyalty and repeat business. Working in a fast-paced gameday environment demands team spirit and collaboration, so bartenders are also expected to support their coworkers and step in where needed, whether to help serve food or run drinks.
This position suits those who thrive in high-energy, social environments and enjoy interacting with guests. The ideal candidate will be legally able to serve alcohol, possess state-required certification, and demonstrate knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and cocktail trends. Physical endurance is important due to long shifts on their feet and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds. The role requires flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and, notably, game days, aligning with Walk-On's commitment to a sports-centric atmosphere.
Walk-On's offers an engaging work culture where teamwork and camaraderie thrive. Flexible scheduling is available, making it ideal for students or individuals with other commitments. Employees have opportunities for growth, potentially moving from bartenders to leadership positions. This job is more than flipping drinks; it’s about being part of a passionate team that values integrity, enthusiasm, and delivering excellence in every shift, making every workday as exciting as game day itself.
