Job Description

Village Management Services, Inc. (VMS) is a professional management company dedicated to serving Laguna Woods Village, located in Southern California. Laguna Woods Village is the largest independent living community for adults aged 55 and older in Southern California, sprawling across 2,100 acres with 12,736 homes and housing over 18,000 residents. VMS operates in a manner similar to managing a small city, with approximately 1,000 employees who provide a broad range of services to support the community infrastructure and the daily lives of the residents. As a mutual-benefit nonprofit corporation, VMS emphasizes integrity, quality, dedication, and open communication to create a rewarding and challenging environment that fosters excellent customer service. The organization’s mission is to maintain Laguna Woods Village as the premier active-adult community in the region.

The Bartender position at VMS plays a crucial role in delivering outstanding customer service during clubhouse events within the community. This role involves participating in the preparation and sale of beverages in accordance with established procedures, ensuring that all drinks are mixed to specification and served promptly to guests. The Bartender will operate within an environment that encourages positive interactions, constructive communication, and respect for the diverse community. Attention to detail is critical when balancing cash registers and submitting paperwork post-event. This position also requires frequent movement and some physical demands such as lifting and standing for extended periods. Employees are expected to adhere to state liquor control laws and Village rules, maintaining professionalism and courtesy when addressing public relations challenges. Possession of a valid California Driver's License is necessary as the role involves driving to meetings and workshops. This position is ideal for individuals with bartending experience or equivalent knowledge, particularly those who can relate effectively to the needs of senior citizens and work collaboratively with staff and residents. This job offers a unique opportunity to be part of a premier retirement community, contribute to a highly respected management team, and support a vibrant social atmosphere for residents. The work environment is a climate-controlled indoor facility where employees engage with coworkers, residents, vendors, and the public regularly. VMS is an equal opportunity employer, committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion in its hiring practices and workplace culture.
