In this position, the bar server will handle a range of responsibilities including greeting guests, recommending wine and menu pairings, and preparing beverages for both guests and dining room staff. The server is expected to apply good judgment when addressing guest concerns, adhere strictly to all service protocols, and possess comprehensive knowledge about the restaurant and its offerings to answer customer questions knowledgeably. Additionally, promoting current sales and special offers is a key part of the role to maximize guest satisfaction and increase revenue.
Operational responsibilities include accurately recording customer orders, processing payments, balancing sales at the end of shifts, and proficiently utilizing Point-of-Sale (POS) and reservation systems. The role also extends to ensuring food orders for guests in the bar area are served promptly and to standards, manual washing and sanitizing of glassware in accordance with safety protocols, and maintaining stock levels of bar supplies such as liquor, wine, beer, glassware, and ice. The position demands vigilance in securing bar inventory and the cash drawer, ensuring all resources are accounted for and protected.

Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience in a bar or restaurant service role
- Strong wine knowledge base
- Ability to communicate clearly and courteously with guests
- Familiarity with POS and reservation systems
- Ability to handle cash transactions accurately and responsibly
- Physical ability to stand for extended periods and perform manual tasks such as washing glassware
- Compliance with safety and sanitation standards
Job Qualifications
- Prior experience in a similar bar server or waitstaff role
- Strong knowledge of wine and beverage preparation
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to use POS and reservation systems proficiently
- Good judgment and problem-solving skills when dealing with guests
- Basic math skills for processing payments and balancing sales
- Ability to work efficiently both independently and as part of a team
Job Duties
- Ensure that the overall guest experience exceeds expectations, including greeting guests with a warm, sincere smile and anticipating their needs
- Have a strong wine knowledge base and be able to recommend menu pairings to guest
- Prepare beverages for guests and dining room service staff, according to recipe
- Use good judgment when dealing with guest challenges
- Follow all steps of service
- Understand and respond knowledgeably to questions about the restaurant and menu
- Use sales techniques and present and encourage current promotions to guests
- Accurately record and account for all items ordered, process payment from guests, and account for and balance all sales and receipts at the end of the shift in compliance with restaurant policies and procedures
- Proficiently use and operate all necessary tools and equipment, including the POS system and Reservation System
- Responsible for ordering and serving food for guests that dine in the bar area
- Manually wash and sanitize glassware and comply with all safety and sanitation guidelines and procedures
- Stock and maintain par levels of bar liquor, beer, wine, glassware, ice, and misc. bar supplies
- Account for and maintain the security of all bar stock and inventory
- Responsible for the security and reconciliation of the bar cash drawer
