The position is available for both full-time and part-time employment, with pay varying by state, inclusive of hourly wages plus tips, which reflects the local minimum wages for tipped employees. For instance, in Maryland, the hourly wage ranges from $3.63 to $10.00, while in other states like Pennsylvania and Texas, the starting hourly wages are lower but supplemented by tips. The ideal candidate must meet the minimum legal age to serve alcohol and have at least one to two years of experience in bartending, along with a high school diploma or its equivalent. Required physical abilities include standing, walking, bending for extended periods, and lifting up to 30 pounds, which ensures active participation in all aspects of the job. Emotional composure and professionalism are also critical, as bartenders must manage potentially challenging guest interactions with calmness and respect.
