Job Description
Marriott International is a globally renowned hospitality company known for delivering exceptional guest experiences through its diverse portfolio of hotels and resorts. Located in the heart of San Antonio, Texas, the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter on the River Walk offers guests a prime location with stunning river views and access to local attractions. This Marriott hotel is part of a larger global network that prides itself on quality, innovation, and a deep commitment to employee satisfaction and guest service. Marriott International continuously fosters a work environment that values diversity, inclusion, and professional growth for associates at all levels.
The role offered here is that of a Bartender, a pivotal non-management position within the food and beverage category. This is a part-time position primarily scheduled during the evening shift at the San Antonio Marriott Rivercenter, with an hourly pay rate of $9.70, and is tip eligible. While the primary responsibility of the bartender is to prepare and serve beverages accurately, the role extends far beyond the technical skills of mixing drinks. The bartender is expected to create memorable experiences for guests, constantly staying ahead of industry trends and understanding evolving customer needs.
Success in this role is defined not just by drink preparation but by being the host of the bar—someone who takes personal responsibility for guest satisfaction and ensures that every interaction is welcoming and professional. This requires attention to detail in many areas, including money handling, communicating with guests, and maintaining the highest quality standards in beverage preparation. Bartenders also play a crucial role in maintaining the bar's appearance and operational effectiveness, as well as building relationships within the hotel and the wider community.
Physical stamina is essential since the role includes standing, walking, sitting, and performing tasks that involve lifting or moving objects up to 25 pounds. The bartender must also adhere strictly to Marriott's safety policies, confidentiality agreements, and company procedures, ensuring a safe and secure environment for guests and coworkers alike.
Marriott International values the development of its employees and offers extensive training opportunities to help bartenders hone their craft, develop professionally, and thrive within the company. The brand JW Marriott, part of the luxury portfolio of Marriott International, supports its employees with a collaborative, inclusive, and respectful workplace where innovation and genuine hospitality flourish. Employees at JW Marriott are encouraged to bring their best selves to work and are recognized for their contributions, all within an environment focused on holistic wellness and career growth.
Working here means joining a global network of hospitality professionals committed to outstanding service, diversity, and inclusion. It is a unique opportunity for someone passionate about hospitality and beverage service to build a meaningful career while delivering "a remarkable hotel experience, always" to guests. The role is geared toward individuals who are eager to be part of a team and to contribute positively to the Marriott legacy of quality and guest satisfaction.
