The Washington Marriott at Metro Center, located in the heart of Washington, District of Columbia, is part of this expansive network and offers guests a sophisticated experience imbued with Marriott's dedication to excellence. This property stands out for its prime location and its emphasis on providing exceptional service to both business and leisure travelers alike.
This role is a part-time, non-management position within the Food and Beverage & Culinary category at the Washington Marriott at Metro Center. The position mainly involves working evening shifts, with hourly pay starting at $23.77, progressing to $26.69 after six months, and reaching $31.70 after one year, reflecting the company’s commitment to rewarding continued service and performance. This job opportunity is ideal for individuals passionate about hospitality who enjoy a dynamic work environment and are eager to contribute directly to guest satisfaction.
As a bartender, the successful candidate will prepare drink orders accurately according to specified recipes, using precise measuring systems to ensure quality and consistency. Responsibilities include issuing, opening, and serving wine and champagne bottles, setting up and maintaining the cleanliness and condition of the bar and bar unit, and managing all necessary supplies such as ice, glassware, and paper products. The role also involves washing soiled glassware, removing used wares efficiently, and anticipating the needs for replenishments to keep the bar fully stocked for uninterrupted service.
Cash handling duties are integral, requiring counting the bank at the end of shifts, completing cashier reports, resolving discrepancies, and securing receipts and bank contents. Security is paramount; bartenders must ensure liquors, beers, wines, coolers, cabinets, and storage areas are secured. The position requires completing closing duties thoroughly and following all company safety and security policies and procedures including reporting any accidents or unsafe conditions and completing required safety training.
In addition to technical bartending skills, the role demands a friendly and professional attitude. Bartenders are expected to welcome guests warmly, anticipate and address their service needs promptly, and express genuine appreciation. Clear and professional communication with guests and coworkers is essential to fostering a positive work atmosphere and maintaining high service standards. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods, lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds, and navigate various physical spaces.

This creates a nurturing environment where team members can thrive professionally while delivering unparalleled guest experiences. Marriott International’s dedication to equal opportunity employment ensures a workplace free from discrimination, and its rich heritage and commitment to quality define the essence of working within its luxury hotel brands.
