The role of Barrel Yard Catering Supervisor at Delaware North Sportservice is a seasonal position that offers dynamic, hands-on leadership within a fast-paced culinary environment. This role is perfect for an experienced Cook who thrives when working collaboratively and enjoys the excitement of game day operations. As a Catering Supervisor, you will oversee food preparation to maintain high standards of quality, plate presentation, and sanitation. Your responsibilities will involve supervising kitchen associates, ensuring adherence to portion sizes, recipes, and various department policies. This position demands strong leadership skills to manage associates effectively while working closely with service personnel and restaurant managers to exceed guest satisfaction.

The Catering Supervisor will manage all kitchen equipment, assist in monthly inventory, and participate in training and interviewing new seasonal team members. A key part of the role includes reading and executing Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) accurately for catering functions, maintaining cleanliness and organization of walk-ins and freezers, and controlling food costs as established by culinary leadership. Supervisory duties also cover ensuring proper food storage, labeling, rotation, and breakdown procedures. The position requires active engagement in operational duties such as opening, closing, and side work tasks according to proper guidelines. You will participate in bi-weekly staff and culinary team meetings to stay aligned with company standards.

This position requires flexibility, with scheduling including event-based and non-event-based shifts year-round, encompassing days, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Applicants must possess at least two years of experience as a Line Cook, including leadership roles like Supervisor or Lead Line Cook in a fast-paced setting. Effective communication, attention to detail, multitasking ability, and competency in Microsoft Office and basic math are essential. Candidates must be capable of obtaining Food Safety Manager certification.

Job Requirements

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule event based and non event based (year round)
  • At least 2 years experience as a line cook, including experience as a supervisor or lead line cook in a fast paced environment

Job Duties

  • Supervise food prep work while maintaining food quality, plate presentation, and sanitation standards
  • Verify that all portion sizes, recipes, quality standards, department rules, policies, and procedures are maintained by kitchen associates
  • Supervise all associates and food production in their area
  • Partner with service personnel and restaurant managers to satisfy guests
  • Maintain all kitchen equipment in full working order
  • Assist in monthly inventory
  • Assist in interviewing and training new seasonal culinary team members
  • Read and execute BEOs for catering functions
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of walk-ins and freezers at all times
  • Actively work to maintain food costs within parameters set by culinary leadership
  • Effectively supervise proper breakdown, rotation, labeling, dating, and storage of food
  • Perform opening, closing, and side work duties as instructed and according to proper guidelines
  • Attend bi-weekly staff meetings and culinary team meetings
  • Perform other duties assigned
