The Barista/Baker role is integral to the daily operations of this thriving establishment, offering a blend of technical skill and customer service excellence. This non-exempt position reports directly to the Unit General Manager and offers a competitive starting salary of $15.25 per hour. The role focuses on providing courteous and knowledgeable service by leveraging superior barista skills and comprehensive product knowledge. In addition to preparing high-quality beverages, the Barista/Baker is responsible for baking and decorating donuts prior to the restaurant's opening, ensuring that all items meet the company’s quality and presentation standards.
As a Barista/Baker, you will be responsible for mastering the art of coffee making, which includes understanding the various factors that impact the final quality of espresso-based beverages. This involves controlling the espresso grind, tamp pressure, shot pulling speed, milk temperature, and cup selection. Your expertise will directly influence customer satisfaction and their overall experience at the store.
Customer engagement is a significant element of this role. Baristas are expected to warmly welcome and connect with every customer, identify their needs, and suggest appropriate products to enhance their visit. You will also provide demonstrations and tasting samples to educate customers about the brewing process and products offered. This role demands excellent interpersonal skills, clear communication, and a proactive attitude toward creating a friendly, efficient atmosphere.
In addition to customer service and beverage preparation, this role involves adhering to strict health, safety, and sanitation policies to maintain a clean and safe environment. Baristas handle various operational duties, including merchandising, inventory management, cash handling, and cleaning.
