The Barista position is the perfect blend of customer service, food and beverage preparation, and operational support. Baristas prepared specialty coffee drinks, teas, and other beverages in accordance with brand standards while also assisting with food preparation and providing memorable service to each guest. The Barista handles cash and credit card transactions using a register or point-of-sale system, ensuring accuracy in money handling and balancing the cash drawer at the end of shifts. Maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area and adhering to health, safety, and sanitation protocols are essential components of the job.
The Barista position requires candidates who have basic math and counting skills, can work independently with limited supervision, and are able to communicate effectively in English. Experience with cash handling and previous barista or customer service experience is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must be willing to complete Food Handling Certification as required. Physical demands include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking during shifts. The role promotes teamwork and requires adherence to company dress codes and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) policies when necessary.
In this role, employees are scheduled generally between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., with weekend availability required. Job Duties
- Accurately operate a register/pos and handle cash and credit card transactions
- Greet and assist customers while anticipating their needs
- Prepare and serve coffees, teas, specialty beverages per brand standards
- Prepare and serve food items in line with location standards
- Count, organize and balance cash drawer, fill out the cashier slip and make deposits
- Adhere to Aramark's cash handling policies and procedures
- Set up and breakdown coffee bar, stations or store including cleaning and sanitizing
- Maintain clean and sanitary work area
- Stock beverage coolers, grab and go items, service ware and condiments
- Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products
- Perform other duties as assigned by management
