Job Description

Latte Life is a vibrant coffee shop dedicated to crafting high-quality coffee, tea, and specialty beverages while creating a welcoming and inclusive environment for all customers. Known for its commitment to operational excellence and outstanding customer service, Latte Life has built a reputation as a community hub where customers can enjoy expertly prepared drinks and a friendly atmosphere. The company emphasizes teamwork, cleanliness, and attention to detail to maintain the highest standards across all outlets. Latte Life takes pride in its inclusive approach, offering unique supported employment opportunities for individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) who are seeking to develop valuable skills within a supportive work environment.

The role of Barista Trainer at Latte Life is a specialized position focused not only on delivering exceptional beverage preparation and customer service but also on training and mentoring individuals with IDD. This position requires a passionate and patient individual who can serve as a role model and on-the-job trainer, teaching core barista skills such as drink preparation, food handling, customer engagement, cleaning, restocking, and proper use of coffee equipment. The Barista Trainer must be proficient in crafting various types of beverages, including espressos, pour-overs, teas, and specialty coffees, ensuring they meet the company’s quality and consistency standards.

Beyond the technical skills, the Barista Trainer plays a crucial role in fostering an inclusive and supportive environment that promotes dignity, independence, and growth. This involves breaking down complex job tasks into manageable steps, adapting teaching methods to accommodate different learning styles, and using positive reinforcement to build confidence among trainees. The trainer collaborates closely with supervisors, job coaches, and program staff to reinforce individual training plans and accommodate special needs while maintaining professionalism, confidentiality, and respect at all times.

Physical demands of the role include extended periods of standing and walking, occasional lifting of supplies and equipment ranging from light to heavy weights, and some physical intervention when necessary. The position also requires a valid Class E driver’s license, up-to-date auto insurance coverage, and a seasonal flu vaccination to ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Flexible availability, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays, is essential to meet the operational needs of the coffee shop.

This position offers a unique opportunity to blend a passion for coffee with meaningful social impact, making it ideal for candidates who are customer-focused, adaptable, and enthusiastic about coffee culture while being committed to inclusivity and skill development.
