Job Description

Starbucks Coffee Company is a globally recognized leader in the coffeehouse industry, known for its commitment to quality coffee and creating welcoming environments where customers enjoy meaningful moments. Founded in Seattle, Washington, Starbucks has expanded to thousands of locations worldwide, delivering exceptional coffee experiences and embracing values of inclusivity, community, and sustainability. As a company, Starbucks is dedicated to enriching the lives of its customers and partners alike, fostering growth opportunities and supporting its workforce through comprehensive benefits and professional development programs.

The role of a Starbucks partner – also known as a barista – is more than just crafting coffee; it is about creating memorable customer interactions and building connections. Partners work in a fast-paced setting where each shift presents the opportunity to brighten a customer’s day through thoughtful service, attention to detail, and friendly engagement. The position requires flexibility to work varied shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, or holidays, which ensures a vibrant work environment and keeps daily routines dynamic.

Starbucks values its partners by offering an inviting and inclusive workplace where every individual can thrive, gain new skills, and contribute to a team atmosphere. New partners receive thorough training to master the art of brewing and preparing beverages and food to precise standards, including recipe customizations. There is no prior experience required to apply, making this an excellent opportunity for individuals seeking to enter the hospitality or food service industry.

The company also invests heavily in partner growth and wellbeing, providing access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance options, paid parental leave, vacation and sick time accrual, and holiday pay. Starbucks supports educational advancement through its College Achievement Plan, offering full tuition coverage for a bachelor’s degree from Arizona State University online. Additionally, partners can participate in retirement savings plans, stock purchase programs, and receive financial wellness resources.

At Starbucks, the barista position is an essential frontline role that embodies the Starbucks mission and values. It combines technical skill in beverage preparation with interpersonal skills to build rapport with customers. The role demands a positive attitude, the ability to learn quickly, and flexibility to take on various tasks within the store. Through consistent attendance, punctuality, and adherence to operational policies, Starbucks partners contribute directly to the store’s success and customer satisfaction.

Starbucks Coffee Company prides itself on creating a diverse and equitable hiring process. Prospective employees will be considered without discrimination based on race, sex, age, sexual orientation, disability, or veteran status, and are provided reasonable accommodations as needed during the application and employment process. This commitment ensures that Starbucks remains an employer of choice in the hospitality sector.

Compensation is competitive and typically starts at the lower end of the pay scale based on location, with individual considerations applied as appropriate. Starbucks partners are recognized not only by competitive wages but also by an industry-leading package of benefits and opportunities for career advancement within one of the most respected brands worldwide. Joining Starbucks means being part of a community devoted to excellence in coffee craft and meaningful human connections.
