Job Description

Starbucks Coffee Company is recognized worldwide as the premier roaster, marketer, and retailer of specialty coffee. With thousands of stores operating globally, Starbucks has emerged as a leader in the coffee industry, celebrated for its commitment to quality, community, and innovation. Starbucks is more than just a coffeehouse; it is a cultural experience where customers can find a comfortable and welcoming environment to enjoy exceptional coffee and connect with one another. The company values its partners and invests heavily in their growth, providing developmental opportunities and industry-leading benefits to support their journey both personally and professionally.

At Starbucks, the role of a barista is central to crafting the world’s finest coffee and creating meaningful experiences for every customer. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality, coffee, and community engagement, regardless of prior experience. It is designed for people who thrive in a fast-paced environment, possess excellent interpersonal skills, and are eager to contribute to a positive and inclusive store atmosphere.

As a Starbucks Barista, you will be responsible for the preparation and serving of high-quality beverages and food products that meet company standards while customizing orders to fit customer preferences. You are more than a server; you are a creator of moments that matter—whether by remembering a regular customer’s favorite drink or by delivering a cheerful greeting that brightens someone’s day. This position calls for flexibility and a willingness to perform various tasks throughout each shift, ensuring the smooth operation of the store. The role involves not only cash handling and maintaining safety standards but also fostering relationships with customers through clear, pleasant communication.

Starbucks values teamwork and the ability to build strong relationships. Baristas work closely with their colleagues to maintain a productive and friendly environment, encouraging collaboration and mutual support. The company promotes a culture of learning, encouraging employees to develop their skills and advance their careers within the Starbucks family.

Additionally, Starbucks offers comprehensive benefits to its partners and their families, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, life insurance, disability coverage, paid parental leave, and vacation time that accrues based on hours worked. Unique financial benefits include participation in a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, stock purchase programs, and emergency savings incentives. Starbucks is also dedicated to education, offering 100% upfront tuition coverage for a first-time bachelor’s degree through Arizona State University’s online program via the Starbucks College Achievement Plan, alongside student loan management resources and additional educational opportunities.

The company emphasizes equal opportunity employment and is committed to creating accessible and accommodating work environments for all applicants and employees. Starbucks welcomes individuals from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply and grow within the organization.

Employment with Starbucks is typically entry-level at the starting end of the pay scale depending on location, with individual compensation decisions made based on position and candidate qualifications. This role is open to candidates who can work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays and who demonstrate reliability and a commitment to maintaining company standards.
