Job Description
Starbucks Coffee Company is a globally recognized coffeehouse chain known for its commitment to crafting the world’s finest coffee and creating a warm, welcoming environment where every interaction is meaningful. Founded in 1971, Starbucks has grown from a single store in Seattle's Pike Place Market to a worldwide brand synonymous with premium coffee beverages and an inclusive, community-centered culture. The company prioritizes sustainability, ethical sourcing, and fostering connections between customers, partners (employees), and the communities it serves. With thousands of locations across the globe, Starbucks continues to innovate and lead in the coffee industry by integrating quality products, customer service excellence, and a progressive approach to employee benefits and growth opportunities.
Joining Starbucks as a Partner (Barista) offers a unique opportunity to be part of this vibrant company culture. The role is focused on creating meaningful moments for customers by delivering exceptional coffee experiences and genuine customer connections. A Starbucks Partner contributes to the company’s mission by brightening customers’ days, whether through a warm smile, remembering a favorite order, or customizing beverages to individual tastes. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments, enjoy engaging with diverse people, and take pride in their craftsmanship and teamwork abilities.
The role requires flexibility, including availability for early mornings, evenings, weekends, nights, and holidays. Partners are expected to maintain consistent attendance and punctuality, uphold store operating policies and standards related to product quality, cash handling, and safety, and perform a variety of tasks during each shift to support store operations. Training and development are integral parts of the Starbucks experience, ensuring that partners are equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed and grow within the company.
Starbucks invests significantly in the personal and professional growth of its partners through developmental experiences and a comprehensive benefits package. Starbucks Partners and their families have access to extensive medical, dental, and vision insurance plans, alongside life and disability coverage options. Paid parental leave, family expansion reimbursement, paid vacation accruals, and sick time benefits provide support for work-life balance. Additional benefits include participation in a 401(k) retirement plan with employer match, stock purchase programs, emergency savings incentives, and financial well-being tools. Educational opportunities are a key highlight, with Starbucks offering 100% tuition coverage for first-time bachelor’s degrees through Arizona State University’s online program and access to student loan management resources.
Starbucks values diversity and inclusion by maintaining an equal opportunity employment environment, ensuring all qualified applicants receive consideration without discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, age, national origin, disability, or protected veteran status. The company also affirms its commitment to providing reasonable accommodations for disabilities to support all applicants through the hiring process.
This entry-level position usually offers compensation based on geographic location and individual circumstances, starting at the entry point of the pay range. Starbucks partners are not just employees but valued contributors to a larger community that celebrates connections, growth, and the culture of coffee. Becoming a Starbucks Partner means becoming part of a global family dedicated to crafting the world's finest coffee one meaningful moment at a time.
