Baristas must be prepared to stand and walk for extended periods, use their hands for precision tasks like operating espresso machines and preparing beverages, and occasionally lift and move up to 50 pounds. The workplace environment involves exposure to temperature variations, such as the warmth from coffee equipment and cooler refrigerated spaces. This physical engagement, combined with the joy of crafting quality coffee and food, makes the Barista role dynamic and fulfilling. Compensation starts at $20.32 per hour, with tips averaging an additional $5 to $9 per shift hour.
