This particular role as a Seasonal Barista is an integral part of Aparium's Food and Beverage team, located within their unique hotel café setting that serves as a welcoming space for both guests and local community members. During the day, the café offers freshly brewed coffee and house-made pastries, creating a cozy, relaxed atmosphere perfect for conversation and connection. By night, the ambiance transitions smoothly into an intimate cocktail lounge designed for relaxation and social events. The Barista's role is primarily focused on covering morning and early afternoon shifts through the Seattle summer season until September, playing a crucial part in delivering outstanding customer service and beverage excellence. Reporting to the Restaurant Manager and Food & Beverage leadership, the Barista works closely with a team of professionals to ensure every guest's experience is memorable and delightful.

The ideal candidate for this position will possess a comprehensive background in coffee service, combined with expert knowledge of menu items to accommodate guests with allergies and dietary restrictions safely. This role demands impeccable time management skills, a passion for hospitality, and a deep understanding of coffee culture and beverage making. Job Requirements

  • Passion for the People, Place and Culture of our community, love of restaurants and guest service
  • Minimum of one year experience as a barista in either a free-standing or hotel café or coffee shop
  • Ability to obtain and maintain Alcohol Servers Permit (MAST) and WA Food handler Permit within 14 days of hire
  • Ability to meet local age requirements in order to serve alcohol
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule to include mornings, weekends and holidays
  • Fluency in English, verbal and written
  • Ability to continuously stand and/or walk for the majority of a shift
  • Ability to lift and/or carry 30 lbs (chair, table, tray, crate, box, etc.)

Job Qualifications

  • Fluency in English, verbal and written

Job Duties

  • Uphold and model the company’s principles of People, Place and Character, driving collaboration, intuition and translocal hospitality
  • Own all aspects of a guest’s Café experience from extending a warm greeting to executing on requests in a friendly and timely manner
  • Participate in daily lineups and staff meetings to further develop ideas and objectives with the service team
  • Be accountable for working knowledge of the menu
  • and to serve alcohol safely, responsibly, and legally
  • and accurately account for all monetary transactions during your shift
  • Share your extensive knowledge of the coffee world with your guests, using your product knowledge to enhance a guest experience and offer relevant additions
  • Ensure your workstation is clean and organized, with the utmost respect for your guests, peers, and equipment
  • Demonstrate an understanding of basic coffee and beverage terms and strive to know more
  • Observe conditions of all physical facilities and relay any challenges to the food and beverage leadership team to make corrections and improvements as needed
  • Assist in other areas of the F+B Department as needed
