The Barista role at the Kimpton Miralina Resort is an hourly position that involves not only the preparation of quality beverages but also delivering exceptional customer service that enhances the overall guest experience. Baristas are responsible for taking orders, skillfully preparing coffee, tea, and other beverages according to customer specifications, and operating cash registers and credit card machines. This role requires maintaining a calm and effective demeanor even during high-volume periods or unusual events to keep operations running smoothly and to set a positive tone for the team.
A Barista at Highgate’s Kimpton Miralina Resort anticipates and meets customer needs by constantly evaluating the environment and customer cues, ensures open communication with management to foster a welcoming atmosphere, assists in the training of new team members, and follows all operational policies and procedures for safety, security, and cash handling. The position demands the maintenance of a clean and organized workspace, adherence to recipe and presentation standards, and compliance with health, safety, and sanitation guidelines. Candidates should possess strong multitasking abilities, deliver service with a friendly and attentive attitude, and demonstrate consistent punctuality and attendance.
Physical requirements include the ability to stand throughout the entire shift, occasional lifting or carrying of items weighing up to 40 pounds, and the capacity to perform precision tasks involving reaching and turning. General requirements emphasize maintaining a warm and friendly demeanor, effective verbal and written communication skills, exceptional listening abilities, adherence to high personal grooming standards, and willingness to work some weekends. Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Previous experience in customer service or hospitality preferred
- Ability to operate cash registers and handle transactions accurately

- Attention to detail and commitment to maintaining quality standards
- Ability to follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines
Job Duties
- Maintains a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to keep store operating to standard and to set a positive example for the shift team
- Anticipates customer and store needs by constantly evaluating environment and customers for cues
- Communicates information to manager so that the team can respond as necessary to create a warm and welcoming environment during each shift
- Assists with new partner training by positively reinforcing successful performance and giving respectful and encouraging coaching as needed
- Delivers outstanding customer service to all customers by acting with a customer comes first attitude and connecting with the customer
- Follows Starbucks as well as the property's operational policies and procedures, including those for cash handling and safety and security, to ensure the safety of all partners during each shift
- Maintains a clean and organized workspace so that associates can locate resources and product as needed
