This commitment reflects the organization's dedication not only to healthcare but also to maintaining an equitable workplace.

The Coffee Bar Attendant role at Mercy Medical Center is a vital position focused on the daily operations and overall presentation of the coffee bar and its surrounding areas. This part-time job involves working rotating shifts, providing a dynamic schedule suitable for individuals seeking flexibility. The attendant is responsible for maintaining cleanliness and organization in accordance with all applicable food safety codes, including federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring that customers receive safe, high-quality food and beverages. Additionally, the role requires cash register operation skills and the ability to manage money handling procedures with accuracy and professionalism. The attendant is tasked with opening and closing duties, setting up the café for sales by stocking food and paper products, monitoring food and refrigeration temperatures, and documenting them appropriately to uphold safety standards. Inventory management duties include requisitioning, transporting, and replenishing food and supplies, inspecting product integrity, rotating stock, disposing of expired items, and applying proper labeling and dating.

Maintaining a hygienic and sanitary workspace is a continuous requirement. The attendant must also follow cleaning protocols regarding chemical usage, storage, and safety measures. Effective customer service skills are crucial to represent Mercy Medical Center professionally and courteously, supporting overall performance improvement. The position involves multitasking and adaptability to handle varied duties and fast-paced situations in a hospital environment.

Physical aspects of the job include extended standing and walking periods, use of pushing, pulling, grasping, climbing, stooping, and crouching motions. The job demands medium physical exertion, including lifting items up to 40 pounds occasionally, and requires good visual acuity for reading menus, recipes, and measuring portions accurately. Intellectual and emotional requirements focus on adaptability to repetitive work, stress management, efficient task switching, and interpersonal skills to maintain cooperative interactions with colleagues and customers alike.

The Coffee Bar Attendant will use various tools and equipment such as grinding, brewing, and coffee dispensing machines, blenders, meat slicers, microwaves, cash registers, and more. Working conditions may include exposure to noise, wet floor surfaces, cleaning chemicals, steam/hot water from equipment, and temperature variations inside the facility. Compliance with HIPAA security policies is required, although the position involves low security access with no access to confidential information.

The role is an opportunity for individuals with a passion for food service, customer interaction, and a commitment to safety and sanitation practices within a healthcare environment.
