The Coffee Bar Team Member position is a part-time role featuring rotating shifts. It requires a proactive and customer-focused individual to oversee the daily operations and overall ambiance of the coffee bar and related areas. The employee will maintain a sanitary and organized environment, adhering strictly to food safety standards and regulatory codes at the federal, state, and local levels. The role demands exceptional customer service skills since the incumbent serves guests professionally, ensuring customer satisfaction in every interaction.
This role involves operating various equipment such as cappuccino machines, coffee grinders, coffee brewers, blenders, and cash registers. Responsibilities include prepping hot and cold foods for retail, setting up the café for sales, and ensuring adequate stock of food and paper products. Monitoring food and equipment temperatures to comply with health codes is critical, as is documenting these details throughout the shift. The employee is also tasked with cleaning and organizing all work areas, including beverage machines, seating, storage, and prep spaces. The role demands strict adherence to safety protocols, proper handling and storage of chemicals, and practicing good ergonomics to prevent injury. Additionally, the team member must consistently exhibit the values and mission of Mercy Medical Center by maintaining professionalism and cooperation with colleagues, patients, and visitors alike. Physical requirements include the ability to stand, walk, lift up to 40 pounds, and perform repetitive hand movements. The employee must complete barista training within two months and have a high school diploma or GED preferred. Experience in restaurant or food service operations is advantageous.
