Job Description

University of Utah Health is a renowned healthcare institution dedicated to enhancing the health and well-being of individuals through exceptional patient care, innovative research, and comprehensive education. Positioned as a Level 1 Trauma Center, this prestigious organization is nationally recognized for its academic research contributions, adherence to quality standards, and outstanding patient experience. With a network that includes five hospitals and eleven clinics, University of Utah Health offers a wide range of medical services that focus on advancing healthcare and improving patient outcomes. Their commitment to a culture of collaboration, excellence, leadership, and respect sets a foundation of integrity and trust that permeates every aspect of their operations.

The role in focus is a PRN Starbucks Barista position located within the University of Utah Hospital. This position is instrumental in creating the Starbucks beverage experience in a high-volume, fast-paced setting that primarily serves professional clientele. Unlike clinical roles, this position does not involve patient care but contributes to the wellbeing of visitors and staff by delivering high-quality beverage services. The job underscores maintaining Starbucks standards and recipes while customizing beverages to meet customer requests.

Working at University of Utah Health means joining a community that values compassion, innovation, responsibility, and quality. As a Starbucks Barista, responsibilities include handling cash transactions accurately, adhering to product handling guidelines such as date tagging and inventory rotation, and maintaining cleanliness and organization in the work area. This role calls for candidates who can quickly adapt and certify as a Starbucks Barista through the provided training, demonstrating proficiency in both preparing and communicating drink orders efficiently.

This position is considered entry-level but requires important certifications like a current Food Handler's work permit and successful completion of barista training within one month of hire. The role demands physical capabilities such as standing and walking for prolonged periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and maneuvering equipment safely within a healthcare setting. The University of Utah Health encourages a diverse work environment and welcomes multilingual candidates.

Employment in this role is PRN (pro re nata), meaning work is as needed without a set full-time schedule or benefits, suitable for individuals seeking flexible work hours while gaining experience in a dynamic and supportive environment. Potential candidates should be prepared to meet all training and certification requirements, work variable shifts onsite, and participate actively in maintaining the high standards that University of Utah Health upholds across its facilities. This role represents a unique opportunity to join a leading healthcare institution committed to excellence both in medical and support services.
