This particular opportunity is for the position of Barista within St. Luke's University Health Network. The Barista plays a critical role in enhancing the overall patient and visitor experience by preparing and serving hot and cold specialty beverages in strict accordance with established recipes and procedures. The role requires the ability to maintain proper food quality, temperature, and hygiene standards while merchandising menu items in an appealing way that respects dietary restrictions. Additionally, the Barista will operate the point-of-sale system, follow cash handling protocols, and assist with stocking and sanitation duties in the food service department.

The position involves working every other weekend and holiday, demonstrating the importance of flexibility and dedication in this role. Physical requirements include the ability to walk for extended periods, stand, sit, and occasionally lift or carry items weighing up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Customer service and/or food service experience preferred but not necessary
  • Ability to work every other weekend and holiday
  • Ability to walk for up to 7 hours and 30 minutes at a time
  • Ability to stand for up to 1.5 hours for 30 minutes at a time
  • Ability to sit up to 1 hour at a time
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull 1-50 pounds
  • Ability to perform occasional stooping, bending, climbing, and reaching above shoulder level
  • Ability to hear normal conversation
  • Ability to have general, far, and peripheral vision
  • Ability to follow cash handling procedures
  • Ability to comply with safety and attendance policies

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Customer service experience preferred
  • Food service experience preferred
  • Ability to operate POS system
  • Understanding of food safety and sanitation standards
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to follow established recipes and procedures
  • Demonstrated commitment to service excellence

Job Duties

  • Prepares hot and cold specialty drinks in accordance with established procedures and recipes
  • Ensures and maintains proper food quality and temperature
  • Prepares, serves, and merchandises menu items while adhering to dietary restrictions
  • Ensures all menus are posted and communicated properly
  • Operates POS following cash handling policies
  • Stocks assigned areas as directed
  • Assists with general sanitation of food service areas including cleaning and waste disposal
  • Maintains cleanliness of work area at all times
  • Completes special cleaning projects as assigned
  • Maintains confidentiality of all materials handled
  • Complies with safety and reporting requirements
  • Demonstrates Service Excellence Standards in customer interactions
  • Contributes to performance improvement in clinical care, customer service, operations, and safety
  • Demonstrates financial responsibility in resource use
  • Complies with attendance and dress code policies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
