The organization is deeply committed to serving the sick and injured, educating physicians, nurses, and other health care providers, and enhancing access to care within the communities it serves. This commitment extends across all patients regardless of their ability to pay for healthcare, reflecting the organization’s mission to uphold dignity, respect, and quality care for every individual.
Known for fostering a supportive work environment, St. Luke's emphasizes the importance of teamwork, service excellence, and continuous performance improvement. Employees adhere to high standards that incorporate clinical care outcomes, customer service improvement, operational efficiency, and safety protocols. The network also promotes financial responsibility while ensuring resourceful and efficient practices. Through its policies, the organization ensures confidentiality, employee and patient safety, and compliance with dress code and attendance, creating a professional and safe workplace.
The role of Barista at St. Luke's University Health Network presents a unique opportunity to join a vibrant team dedicated to providing exceptional food and beverage service within a healthcare setting. This position plays a crucial part in enhancing the patient and visitor experience through the preparation and service of specialty hot and cold drinks, alongside maintaining food quality and merchandising standards. Baristas also operate Point of Sale (POS) systems with strict adherence to cash handling policies, ensuring smooth transactional processes. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation within the food service department is paramount, contributing to the overall safety and hygiene standards the network champions.
The Barista works on a schedule that includes every other weekend and holiday shifts, underscoring the essential, continuous nature of patient and visitor services at the healthcare facility. This role requires physical stamina, including the ability to walk and stand for extended periods, occasional lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds, and performing various cleaning tasks. While previous customer service or food service experience is desirable, it is not mandatory, as comprehensive on-the-job training is provided to equip new hires with the skills necessary to succeed.
This position not only requires technical proficiency in beverage preparation but also demands excellent interpersonal skills to demonstrate St. Luke's Service Excellence Standards. Baristas must be comfortable with multitasking in a fast-paced environment and be enthusiastic about contributing positively to the healthcare community.
