The Barista role at Intelligentsia Coffee is an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about specialty coffee and customer service. Starting at $18.96 per hour in Pasadena, baristas undergo an extensive training program designed to make them full-bar capable within 90 days. After certification, the pay increases to $19.90 per hour, with additional eligibility for tips averaging $5.00 to $7.00 per hour. Baristas in the Los Angeles coffeebars are members of the IBEW Local 1220 union, and after a probationary period, membership and dues payment are required. The position offers a balance between work and personal life, with average shifts around seven hours and no late-night hours common in the hospitality industry.
