The coffee shop attendant role at Mercy Medical Center is a full-time position involving rotating shifts. This role is integral to the daily success of the coffee shop by ensuring that service standards are not only met but exceeded consistently during every shift. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the overall operations and appearance of the coffee shop and its associated areas. Key responsibilities include maintaining a clean, sanitary, and organized environment in compliance with food safety codes and regulatory requirements. This position plays a vital role in delivering excellent customer service in a professional and friendly manner, enhancing the overall customer experience.

In this role, the coffee shop attendant is expected to welcome and engage with each customer warmly and attentively while demonstrating a "just say yes" attitude to meet customer needs effectively. They will guide and coach new hires through their training process to ensure a high level of competency and consistency across all staff members. The role requires enforcing and communicating company policies and operational standards clearly and ensuring these policies are adhered to throughout the store.

Additionally, the attendant will organize workstations and tasks to optimize efficiency, support profitable operations, and contribute to the store’s sales goals. They will manage inventory by ordering and stocking merchandise appropriately, maintaining standards for product display and rotation. The attendant will also oversee financial responsibilities during shifts, including cash handling and register operations, ensuring accuracy and accountability.

The position demands physical activity such as standing and walking for prolonged periods, lifting, repetitive motions with the hands and wrists, and occasional climbing or bending. The role is suited for individuals capable of medium work exertion, requiring the ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally. Visual acuity for reading menus and recipes is important, along with intellectual and emotional adaptability for performing repetitive tasks, managing stress, and maintaining professionalism in a high-paced environment.

Mercy Medical Center seeks candidates with at least one year of experience as a certified barista, with a willingness and ability to complete advanced store training and become certified as an in-store learning coach within six months of hire. A high school diploma or GED is preferred, alongside restaurant or food service operational experience. The successful candidate will also complete mandatory reporter abuse training within three months of hire.
