The Barista Lead role at Aramark is integral to delivering a memorable customer experience by ensuring timely service and quality products in a clean and inviting environment. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including preparing and serving a range of coffee, tea, and specialty beverages following brand standards, as well as offering food items aligned with location requirements. The Barista Lead also plays a key role in training and mentoring other baristas, helping them improve their skills in coffee and food preparation, customer service, cash handling, and product knowledge.

In addition to day-to-day beverage preparation, the Barista Lead is responsible for managing transactions accurately using a register or POS system, handling cash and credit card payments, balancing the cash drawer, and ensuring compliance with Aramark's cash handling procedures. They also oversee the setup and breakdown of the coffee bar and other stations, maintaining cleanliness, food safety, and sanitation standards at all times. This leadership role may involve scheduling and delegating tasks to team members as well as coordinating task completion to uphold smooth and efficient operations.

Success in this role requires a mix of technical skills, leadership ability, and dedication to excellent customer service. The Barista Lead must be able to work independently with minimal supervision, communicate effectively in English, and adhere to the company's dress code and food safety certifications. Physical demands of the job include lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of standing or walking, as well as the possible use of uniforms and personal protective equipment. Job Requirements

  • Experience as a successful barista required
  • Previous cash handling experience required
  • Basic math and counting skills required
  • Must be able to work independently with limited supervision
  • Must follow required dress code as assigned
  • Able to read and communicate in English and able to follow recipes
  • Complete Food Handling Certification as required

Job Duties

  • Greet and assist customers while anticipating their needs
  • Prepare and serve coffees, teas, specialty beverages per brand standards
  • Prepare and serve food items in line with location standards
  • Train and guide staff members in coffee and food preparation, customer service, cash handling, product knowledge and other processes and procedures
  • May schedule and delegate work assignments to team and coordinate the completion of tasks for the location
  • Accurately operate a register/POS and handle cash and credit card transactions
  • Count, organize and balance cash drawer, fill out the cashier slip and make deposits
  • Adhere to Aramark’s cash handling policies and procedures
  • Set up and breakdown coffee bar, stations or store including cleaning and sanitizing
  • Maintain clean and sanitary work area
  • Stock beverage coolers, grab and go items, service ware and condiments
  • Follow health, safety, and sanitation guidelines for all products
