The role of Barista I at Sodexo, based at the Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion, offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and crafting quality beverages. This position is available as either full-time or part-time, offering a pay rate of $15.00 per hour. The shifts vary and may include different days and rotating weekends, with specific details to be provided during the interview process.
As a Barista I, you will be the face of Sodexo’s customer experience in the beverage area. Your duties will involve greeting guests warmly, preparing a variety of hot and cold drinks such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, chai, and fruit blends tailored to customers’ specific preferences. You will be responsible for educating guests about the menu items and promoting additional offerings through suggestive selling. Maintaining a clean, inviting, and well-stocked coffee bar or cart area is key, requiring organization of supplies, cups, and mugs for attractive displays.
This role demands stamina and physical activity, including extensive walking or mobility during shifts that may exceed eight hours. You will need to reach, bend, stoop, push, pull, and lift weights up to 35 pounds regularly, with occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Handling cash transactions accurately by recording sales, collecting money, and following cash-handling procedures is another important responsibility. Regular attendance and punctuality are expected.

- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- customer service related work experience
- knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
- Starbucks Baristas may be required to be certified

Job Duties
- Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service
- mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, caf latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
- works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
- educates guests regarding menu offerings and initiates suggestive selling
- arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
- often cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
- records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures as required
- significant walking or other means of mobility
- ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
- ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
- attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
