The Barista I role at Sodexo, located at Erlanger Baroness Hospital, offers a dynamic opportunity for individuals passionate about delivering quality customer service in a fast-paced hospitality environment. This position is available as either full-time or part-time with a consistent pay rate of $15.00 per hour. As a Barista I, you will be responsible for crafting a variety of hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, teas, and specialty drinks catering to diverse customer preferences. Providing quick, friendly, and personalized service, you will be the face that welcomes guests, ensuring their experience is memorable and satisfying.
This role also involves maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area, managing inventory supplies, and upholding food safety and sanitation standards. Attention to detail is vital as you will handle cash transactions accurately and contribute to maintaining attractive and functional displays. The Barista I position requires physical stamina to stand or walk for extended periods during shifts that may exceed eight hours, with duties including lifting and moving supplies up to 50 pounds. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous customer service experience
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and inventory control
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work varying shifts including weekends and holidays
- Open availability preferred
- Willingness to follow company policies and procedures
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Customer service related work experience
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
- Ability to operate cash register and handle cash transactions accurately
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Willingness to learn and adhere to standard operating procedures
- Certification for Starbucks Baristas if applicable
Job Duties
- Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service
- Mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, cafe latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
- Works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
- Educates guests regarding menu offerings and initiates suggestive selling
- Arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
- Cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
- Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures as required
- Demonstrates ability to walk or stand for extended periods during shifts which may exceed 8 hours
- Lifts and moves supplies frequently up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
- Performs other duties as assigned and adjusted based on client requirements and business needs
