Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in providing integrated food services and facilities management, recognized for its commitment to improving the quality of life for the people it serves. Operating worldwide, Sodexo partners with various clients to deliver memorable experiences through exceptional food service, catering, and facility solutions. In addition to its primary service offerings, Sodexo is known for fostering a workplace culture that emphasizes respect, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all employees regardless of their background. The company values a strong sense of community and belonging, striving to create environments where team members feel valued, respected, and empowered to contribute their ideas and expertise.

Based at the Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion, the part-time Barista I position at Sodexo offers an exciting opportunity to join this renowned service provider. This role requires an individual who is passionate about delivering excellent customer service and crafting high-quality, hand-made beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, and fruit blend drinks. The position comes with a pay rate of $15.00 per hour and involves working varying shifts, including days, hours, and rotating weekends, which will be detailed during the interview process.

As a Barista I, the successful candidate will act as a front-line ambassador who greets guests warmly and provides fast, friendly service tailored to individual customer preferences. In addition to preparation and presentation of various hot and cold beverages, the Barista will maintain a clean and attractive coffee bar or cart, manage inventory supplies, and handle cash register operations while adhering to proper cash-handling procedures. The role also demands physical stamina, such as the ability to stand or walk for extended periods during shifts that can exceed eight hours and to lift or move heavy items occasionally.

Sodexo’s Barista I role is more than just beverage preparation; it involves educating guests about the menu offerings and utilizing suggestive selling techniques to enhance customer satisfaction and boost sales. The Barista also supports the smooth running of coffee service areas by cleaning equipment and preparing areas for peak efficiency. Additional duties may be assigned depending on client requirements and the specific business needs of each account.

This position is tailored for individuals with a high school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience, and those who possess previous customer service experience and familiarity with food preparation, sanitation standards, and inventory control systems. Starbucks Baristas may be required to hold certification. Beyond the basic job duties, Sodexo promotes a flexible and supportive work environment that accommodates employees' needs for work-life balance. Employees gain access to comprehensive ongoing training programs, career advancement opportunities, and a broad range of benefits including paid time off, medical, dental, vision coverage, tuition reimbursement, 401k, and employee discount programs.

Sodexo’s strong emphasis on equal employment opportunity and embracing diversity means that every candidate is considered fairly without discrimination on any protected characteristics. The company’s commitment to creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture ensures that employees feel appreciated and engaged. Overall, the Barista I role at Sodexo presents a rewarding career entry-point in the dynamic food service industry, ideal for those who enjoy working in a customer-facing position within a respected global company committed to making a difference in daily lives and communities.
