The Barista I position at Sodexo, located at the Juve Family Behavioral Health Pavilion, offers both full-time and part-time employment opportunities with a pay rate of $15.00 per hour. This role is designed for individuals who enjoy customer interaction and have a passion for creating quality, hand-crafted beverages. Working as a Barista I, you will be responsible for greeting guests warmly, preparing and serving a variety of hot and cold drinks including coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, teas, and more. Alongside beverage preparation, the role entails maintaining a clean and organized workspace, managing inventory and supplies, and handling cash transactions responsibly.

This position requires someone with excellent customer service skills who can work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Flexibility is key as shifts may vary with days, hours, and rotating weekends. The Barista I plays a vital role in contributing to the overall customer experience by offering friendly and personalized service, educating guests about menu options, and suggesting items to enhance their visit. Physical requirements include the ability to stand or walk for extended periods, lift moderate weights, and handle the fast-moving demands of a coffee service environment.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • customer service related work experience
  • knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
  • Starbucks Barista certification may be required
  • ability to walk or stand for extended periods
  • ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and occasionally up to 50 pounds
  • punctuality and regular attendance

Job Qualifications

  • knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
  • certification for Starbucks Baristas may be required

Job Duties

  • Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service
  • mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
  • works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
  • educates guests regarding menu offerings and initiates suggestive selling
  • arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
  • often cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
  • records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures as required
  • significant walking or other means of mobility
  • ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time, throughout the entire duration of a shift, which may exceed 8 hours
  • ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • attends work and shows for scheduled shift on time with satisfactory regularity
  • other duties may be assigned and can differ among accounts, depending on business necessities and client requirements
