Job Description

Resident Coffee is a dedicated coffee establishment located in Gainesville, Florida, committed to telling the stories of incredible coffee and the remarkable people behind it. At the heart of our mission is a passion for transparency, intentional sourcing, and quality, partnering with trusted coffee producers around the world. Resident Coffee distinguishes itself not only by the exceptional quality of our coffee but by our deep connection to the community and the producers who grow our beans. We pride ourselves on building meaningful, everyday experiences centered on coffee and hospitality. Our first cafe, which opened recently at 4401 NW 25th Place, Gainesville, spans 3,500 square feet and features a full kitchen and coffee bar. The space is thoughtfully designed to mirror the care that goes into every roast, featuring a Hispanic-influenced food program that prioritizes local sourcing and better ingredients, reflecting our values and backgrounds.

The position of Barista / Guest Experience at Resident Coffee is an integral part of our team and our story. This role goes well beyond simply preparing and serving coffee; it combines coffee preparation, food service, and engaging guest interaction to create an intentional and service-focused cafe experience. As a Barista, you will be the welcoming face of the cafe, a storyteller, a host, and a vital point of connection between our team and our community. Your presence will shape not only the taste experience but also the atmosphere and energy of the cafe. The role requires a person who cares deeply about people, quality, and storytelling through coffee. Responsibilities include preparing espresso drinks, pour overs, teas, and other non-coffee beverages, serving food and drinks with attention to timing and presentation, taking and entering orders warmly and accurately, and ensuring the cafe is tidy, stocked, and ready to create a welcoming environment. Collaboration with both back of house and bar teams is crucial to maintain smooth service flow and excellence in every guest’s visit.

Ideal candidates possess a genuine interest in hospitality and service and bring great energy, self-awareness, and a collaborative mindset to their work. The ability to multitask precisely while staying calm under pressure is essential in this dynamic, hospitality-focused environment. Openness to learning and representing our producer partners with respect is valued highly. While food service experience is a plus, it is not a requirement, making this a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to grow in the artisan coffee and hospitality industry. The role is part-time with weekend availability required, including shifts from 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM. Compensation starts at $13.00 per hour plus tips, with increases available after training and six months of service. Additional perks include monthly access to retail coffee, employee discounts, and ongoing training. At Resident Coffee, you will not only gain work experience but become part of a community that celebrates quality, story, and connection in every cup.
