Job Description
King's College, located at 133 North River Street in Wilkes Barre, PA, is a respected educational institution known for its commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive campus environment. The college not only focuses on academic excellence but also prides itself on providing exceptional dining services to students, faculty, and visitors. Chartwells Higher Ed, a prominent food service provider, partners with King's College to deliver quality food and beverage experiences within the campus community. This collaboration ensures that all food service operations adhere to the highest standards of safety, hygiene, and customer satisfaction. With a focus on continuous improvement and employee development, King's College and Chartwells Higher Ed cultivate a workplace culture that values teamwork, professionalism, and personal growth.
We are currently seeking dedicated and enthusiastic individuals for full-time Barista positions as part of our campus dining team. This role is essential in delivering a warm and welcoming atmosphere where every customer interaction counts. As a Barista, you will be responsible for preparing and serving a variety of coffee and espresso drinks along with related food and beverage items, ensuring adherence to food safety and quality standards, specifically following HACCP guidelines. You will utilize standard recipes and measures to consistently serve high-quality beverages while maintaining cleanliness and organization of your work area.
This position offers a fixed wage of 14.00 dollars per hour and a full-time schedule with varying days and hours, which will be detailed further during the interview process. Prior barista experience is preferred but not mandatory, making this a fantastic opportunity for both seasoned professionals and those starting their career in the food service industry. Working at King's College provides the advantage of being part of a dedicated team where your contributions are recognized and valued.
Key responsibilities of this role include accurately entering orders into the POS system, handling cash and card payments, replenishing supplies, and maintaining proper presentation and portion control of food and beverages. Interaction with customers is a critical element, as you will greet them courteously, ensure quick and efficient service, and address any concerns by communicating with supervisors.
Beyond the daily duties, the Barista will also support merchandising food items attractively and assist customers in making purchasing decisions through effective communication and sales techniques. Cleanliness and sanitation are paramount, with an expectation to clean and maintain equipment, utensils, and workstations throughout and after shifts.
King's College and Chartwells Higher Ed are committed to investing in their people by offering numerous benefits, including opportunities for training and professional development, health and wellness programs, and various voluntary insurance options. Full-time associates may also be eligible for medical, dental, vision, life insurance, and disability benefits, along with commuter benefits and employee assistance programs.
Working in this role also means understanding and adapting to periodical work fluctuations, such as winter and summer breaks when food service demands may decrease. Some positions may require working at alternative locations during these times, aligned with business needs. We take pride in our diversity and inclusion commitment, ensuring fair treatment for all applicants and associates regardless of race, gender, age, disability, veteran status, sexual orientation, or any other protected classifications.
If you are looking to join a vibrant campus community, grow your skills, and make a meaningful impact through exceptional customer service, consider applying for the Barista position at King's College today. We welcome applicants who are passionate about the food service industry and motivated to deliver outstanding service in a supportive and professional environment.
