Currently, Eurest is seeking a dedicated full-time Barista to join their team at Prairie Cafe and Catering located in West Des Moines, Iowa. This position offers a consistent weekday schedule from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, ensuring no night and weekend shifts, which supports a healthy work-life balance. With an hourly pay range of $18.50 to $19.00, the role is designed for individuals who bring a passion for crafting high-quality coffee and espresso drinks, combined with excellent customer service skills. Training is provided onsite to ensure all team members are fully equipped to meet Eurest’s standards.
The Barista’s primary responsibility revolves around preparing and serving a variety of coffee and espresso beverages along with related food and beverage items adhering to established recipes and HACCP guidelines. The role requires interaction with customers and team members in a courteous and professional manner to promote customer satisfaction and operational efficiency. Accurate order entry using POS systems, handling cash and charge payments, replenishing supply stations, and maintaining cleanliness and sanitation across the workstation are critical components of daily duties. Candidates with previous front-of-house (FOH) and barista experience are preferred, as this will help facilitate a smoother training process and faster integration into the team.
Beyond the technical aspects, the Barista serves as an ambassador for the Prairie Cafe brand, engaging customers with product knowledge, friendly service, and upselling opportunities to enhance their experience. The position also demands strict adherence to food safety protocols, portion control, and quality standards to maintain the integrity of the menu offerings. Job Duties
- prepares espresso orders for customers and catering using standard measures and recipes
- enters orders accurately into POS device
- accepts cash and charge payments
- replenishes condiments, beverages and general supplies while maintaining cleanliness of service area
- ensures proper presentation, portion control and maintenance of proper serving temperatures
- follows HACCP standards
- maintains sanitation and orderliness of all equipment, supplies and utensils
- ensures proper food preparation by using approved recipes and following prescribed production standards
- keeps display equipment clean and free of debris during meal service
- cleans equipment and workstation thoroughly before leaving the area for other assignments
- greets customers courteously and interacts in a manner to ensure customer satisfaction
- relays relevant concerns from customers to supervisors
- serves customers quickly and efficiently, and prevents delays in serving lines
- demonstrates a complete understanding of daily menu items and accurately explains them to customers
- serves as an advocate of selling techniques to the customer by establishing good communication and assisting in the buying decision-making process
- ensures all display foods are merchandised attractively per standards
- serves food neatly and attractively per standard
- performs other duties as assigned
