Job Description
Padel39 is a vibrant and inclusive community space located in East Austin, designed to foster connection, creativity, and collaboration among its members and the broader neighborhood. This unique venue blends athletic, social, and hospitality elements to create an environment where people can come together to enjoy engaging experiences, whether on the padel courts or at the coffee bar. As a hub of activity and a cornerstone for the East Austin community, Padel39 embraces a culture of inclusivity and excellent service, striving to make every visitor feel welcome and valued. The company prides itself on offering a supportive workplace, encouraging its team members to grow both personally and professionally within a cooperative and creative atmosphere.
East 5th Coffee, housed within Padel39, is a neighborhood coffee concept rooted in the spirit and culture of East Austin. Rather than positioning itself as a specialty coffee destination, East 5th Coffee prioritizes hospitality, community engagement, and the creation of a warm, inviting 'third space' where locals can gather comfortably outside of home and work. Scheduled to open in May 2026, East 5th Coffee invites baristas and team members who are passionate about genuine hospitality and craftsmanship in every cup. This coffee shop caters to both Padel39 members and the surrounding community by providing expertly prepared beverages with a focus on warmth, connection, and comfort.
For the role of a Barista at East 5th Coffee, the individual serves as the crucial first point of contact for guests, the person guests meet on arrival and the presence they remember most. The Barista’s role is vital as they are responsible for crafting a memorable customer experience that encourages return visits. This position combines the art of expertly prepared coffee, including espresso drinks, matcha, and smoothies, with the sincere hospitality that makes customers feel immediately welcome and part of the neighborhood. The Barista is expected to maintain an immaculate, organized work station, manage opening, mid-shift, and closing tasks independently and in a timely manner, and maintain compliance with relevant health and safety regulations. This role offers full-time and part-time positions, with competitive compensation starting at $12 per hour plus tips, comprehensive benefits for full-time employees, and the opportunity to become an integral member of a close-knit and dynamic team.
Working at East 5th Coffee means more than just serving coffee; it is about cultivating community, fostering relationships, and being at the heart of the East Austin neighborhood. The establishment provides a carefully curated environment that feels like an extension of home, where the warm greetings and personal touches from the Barista transform everyday coffee runs into cherished rituals. The selected candidate will join a small, passionate team that values creativity, collaboration, and a commitment to excellence—setting the tone for a new community cornerstone. Pre-opening training in May 2026 ensures that every team member is equipped with the knowledge and passion needed to deliver an exceptional experience from day one.
