Job Description
Caravanserai is a dynamic and customer-focused retail establishment that takes pride in delivering exceptional service through its dedicated team members. As part of the renowned DMC network, Caravanserai upholds a strong set of core values that guide every interaction and operational process within the store. Operating as a District Managed Company (DMC), Caravanserai prides itself on fostering a supportive and collaborative work environment aimed at both employee growth and customer satisfaction. With a focus on quality, expertise, and community, the company ensures that every customer feels valued and every employee has the tools they need to succeed.
The Barista position at Caravanserai represents a vital role within the company’s day-to-day operations. This role is hourly and tip-eligible, starting at a competitive pay rate of $16.00 per hour for tipped shifts and $17.05 per hour during untipped training shifts. The position involves hands-on operation and maintenance of retail store functions while exemplifying the core principles that DMC stands for. Beyond regular duties, this role requires the physical ability to handle some heavy lifting tasks up to 60 lbs, which entails a moderate physical demand that helps maintain store logistics and supply.
This Barista role offers more than just immediate compensation; it provides an opportunity for long-term career development within a reputable company that values its employees' health and financial security. Following a 90-day period, employees become eligible for comprehensive health insurance plans, including medical, dental, vision coverage, and additional benefits like accident insurance, critical illness coverage, short-term and long-term disability (STD/LTD), and voluntary life insurance. The company also supports retirement planning by offering 401(k) options and financial planning assistance to all employees, underscoring its investment in employee well-being and future stability.
The Barista’s primary responsibility is to deliver an outstanding customer experience by upholding the DMC core values through proactive and engaging customer interactions. Employees are encouraged to stay updated on product knowledge and service standards by completing required trainings, quizzes, and quality control feedback on time. Cleanliness and workplace presentation are essential, ensuring that customers always encounter a welcoming and professional environment.
Team collaboration is another cornerstone of this role. Baristas work closely with Assistant Managers and Store Managers to communicate effectively about daily store events and performance metrics. Additionally, new baristas receive hands-on assistance and mentoring to develop their skills seamlessly within the company’s structured training program.
Technical proficiency is equally important as customer interaction skills. Baristas are trained on all DMC equipment and maintain company assets with care and responsibility. This includes understanding point-of-sale systems, cash handling processes, and mastering espresso bar skills, including handcrafted brewing techniques. This comprehensive training curve ensures the barista can deliver a consistent, high-quality coffee experience that meets both company standards and customer expectations.
In summary, working as a Barista at Caravanserai means joining a reputable and employee-centric company that prioritizes exceptional service, professional growth, and employee well-being. This position offers a meaningful career path with robust benefits and a work culture rooted in teamwork, technical excellence, and customer satisfaction.
