The position of Barista in the Back of House at Starbucks Reserve New York Roastery offers an exciting opportunity to contribute directly to the Starbucks Reserve brand's success. As a Barista, Back of House, you will be an ambassador of coffee leadership and quality stewardship, responsible for delivering a distinctive customer experience through expertise in coffee and food preparation. This role involves working collaboratively within a high-performing team, ensuring operational excellence while upholding Starbucks’ guiding principles. You will be expected to serve as a coffee and food expert, demonstrating profound knowledge about Starbucks products and ingredients, and consistently provide quality beverages and food items adhering strictly to recipe and presentation standards. As a Back of House Barista, you will engage in various responsibilities including coffee and food preparation, supporting service delivery, and inventory management. You will apply your skills to maintain a clean and organized workspace while handling production planning tools to ensure product availability. The role also demands flexibility with scheduling, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Job Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent
Experience in the service, culinary, restaurant or entertainment industry
Physical ability to bend, twist, squat, reach, crawl, push/pull, climb stairs, and stand for long periods
Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
Availability to work flexible hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to carry 35 pounds consistently
Health code certification as required by local regulations
Capacity to memorize complex menus and beverage/food builds
Ability to follow and execute detailed oral and written instructions
Exceptional multitasking and prioritization skills
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
Willingness to work across multiple departments and roles during shifts

Job Qualifications

Experience in the service, culinary, restaurant or entertainment industry
Ability to bend, twist, squat, reach, crawl, push/pull, climb stairs, and stand without limitation and for long periods of time
Reading, writing, and oral proficiency in the English language
Available to work flexible hours, which could include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays
Ability to carry 35lb on a consistent basis
Ability to memorize complex menus, ingredients, beverage and food builds
Health code certification per jurisdictional requirements
1-2 years of specialty retail sales experience beneficial
Facilitation and presentation skills beneficial
Ability to carry and balance a tray beneficial
Baking or Culinary Certification/Degree beneficial
Pizza making experience, additional baking experience beneficial
Basic culinary knife skills beneficial
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and request clarification when needed
High attention to detail with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively
Ability to work as part of a large and matrixed team

Maintain a clean and organized workspace so that partners can locate resources and products as needed
Operate in an environment with rapid innovation and minimal turnaround time from innovation to product and service delivery to the customer
Support inventory management, receiving, and storage of deliveries
Utilize production planning tools to ensure item availability
Prepare, finish, and assemble beverage and food items using the necessary equipment
Stock and maintain all display tables and cases, as well as all supplies and wares needed for service and sales
