We are currently hiring Baristas to join our team at the Java Kiosk located inside the Eastern Iowa Airport. This role offers a unique opportunity to work in a fast-paced, customer-focused environment where early morning shifts provide a dynamic start to the day. The position commences at 4am, and those selected will enjoy a set schedule, full benefits, and chances for advancement within the company. Starting pay is $14.00 per hour plus tips, reflecting our dedication to rewarding hard work.

As a Barista, you will be the welcoming face for our customers, responsible for greeting guests courteously and ensuring they receive excellent service. You will process orders accurately using the point of sale (POS) system, handle payments efficiently, and prepare a wide variety of beverages and food items including cold, frozen, and hot drinks. Attention to detail is essential, as you will follow recipes meticulously while practicing portion control to guarantee the quality and consistency of every order.

Your daily duties will also include completing opening, ongoing, and closing checklists, performing cleaning tasks as assigned to uphold health standards, and assisting with other duties as directed by the supervisor. This role requires someone who enjoys interacting with people, has strong communication skills, and possesses the ability to multitask in a busy environment. Previous experience in a food service setting is preferred, along with a commitment to maintain brand standards and customer satisfaction.

The successful candidate should be able to operate a cash register accurately, perform basic math for transactions and cash handling, and possess a food handler's permit as mandated by law. Candidates must also have the ability to stand for long periods and work in confined spaces without compromising efficiency or service quality. Job Requirements

  • Six months experience working in food service environment
  • high school diploma preferred
  • verbal and written communication
  • ability to read, speak, and understand the English language in order to communicate with guests and take orders
  • experience in dealing with problems involving customer service
  • basic mathematical skills necessary to operate a cash register, make change, total guest checks, count total bank, prepare cash drops, etc
  • food handlers permit as required by law
  • brand certification as required
  • ability to remember, recite, and promote the variety of menu items
  • ability to operate a keyboard and point of sale procedures to pre-check an order and close out a check
  • ability to stand and work in confined spaces for long period of time

Job Duties

  • Greet guests in a courteous and friendly manner
  • process orders and enter them accurately into the POS system
  • receive payment from the customer and process change
  • serve cold, frozen, and hot drinks as well as a wide variety of food items to guests
  • follow all recipes and practice portion control to prepare, garnish, and present ordered items
  • complete opening, on-going, and closing checklists as required
  • perform general and specific cleaning tasks using standard cleaning products as assigned by supervisor to adhere to health standards
  • other duties as assigned
