Harborview - Nutrition Services, part of the broader UW Medicine health system, is offering an exciting opportunity for a skilled Barista to join its dynamic team. Harborview Medical Center is renowned as the Pacific Northwest's only Level I Trauma center and verified burn center, owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine. This position is responsible for independently managing food and beverage service with an emphasis on espresso beverages, showcasing professionalism and care in a busy medical environment. Working a set schedule primarily from Tuesday to Saturday, the successful candidate will operate espresso machines, prepare and serve appealing food and drink items, and maintain cleanliness and order within the service area. Customer service excellence, especially within a diverse medical setting, is paramount. This includes respectful and compassionate interaction with patients, families, staff, and visitors. The Barista will also take on responsibilities such as training new or less experienced employees, ensuring that team members understand the preparation, service, cleaning, stocking, and departmental procedures required to maintain high standards of service. Cash register operation and payment processing form part of the daily tasks, demanding attention to detail and adherence to business policies. Job Requirements
- Possession of or eligible to obtain a Washington State Food Worker Card within two weeks of employment
- one year of experience preparing and serving food and beverage
- equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except where legal requirements apply
