SMG is a premier leader in managing public assembly facilities nationwide and currently offers an exciting opportunity for a Barista at Franklin's Cafe, a beloved local cafe nestled near the historic Greek Theatre inside Griffith Park, Los Angeles. Franklin's Cafe is known for its intimate atmosphere where guests enjoy expertly crafted coffee and espresso beverages made to order, alongside a fresh, diverse food menu. Situated adjacent to the Roosevelt Golf Course, the cafe attracts a blend of local residents from the Los Feliz neighborhood and tourists visiting Griffith Park from around the globe, fostering a vibrant and dynamic workplace environment. The cafe is also a pet-friendly venue that values engagement and interaction between staff and customers, making it an inviting destination for both employees and patrons alike. As a Barista at Franklin's Cafe, you will be a vital member of a small, enthusiastic team dedicated to delivering fast, efficient, and friendly service at all times. This part-time position offers an hourly wage of $19.20 and requires adherence to the policies and procedures established by SMG to ensure safety, security, and quality service. Responsibilities include handling payments accurately including cash, debit, and credit transactions, preparing specialty coffee and other beverages with precision, and maintaining a clean, organized workspace. Your role is essential in creating memorable guest experiences by greeting customers warmly, offering knowledgeable recommendations, and providing attentive service. Additionally, all tips received should be reported as income, reflecting SMG's commitment to transparency and fairness. Because Franklin's Cafe operates under a collective bargaining agreement with Unite Here Local 11, employment requires union membership, fostering a workplace culture that values employee representation and rights. Job Requirements

High school diploma or GED
Basic math skills with ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide
Proficient in English communication both oral and written
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Availability to work various shifts including holidays and weekends
ServeSafe certification
RBS training through Alcohol Beverage Control
Negative TB test
Ability to lift up to 25 lbs

Job Qualifications

High school diploma or GED
Sufficient math ability to perform basic business calculations and pass a math skills test
Ability to speak, read, and understand English well enough to communicate with customers, supervisors, and employees
Ability to understand written and oral directions and communicate effectively
Good organizational skills
Ability to follow directions and perform work effectively
Ability to work closely with others
Pleasant personality with adherence to uniform standards policy
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work various shifts including holidays and weekends

Current ServeSafe certification
RBS training through Alcohol Beverage Control

Job Duties

Follow branded concepts and SMG operational policies and procedures including payment handling, safety, and security
Prepare and serve coffee and other beverages to customers
Accurately process cash register transactions including cash, debit, and credit cards
Maintain a clean and organized workspace
Always maintain payment security and adhere to PREMIER payment handling policy
Monitor product pricing, signage, placement, and product shelf tags
Be knowledgeable of all equipment and functions required to produce quality beverages
Provide consistent quality beverages and food products by adhering to recipe and presentation standards
Keep food and beverage shelves well stocked
Clean cafe surfaces including tables, shelves, counters, and glass
Represent SMG as a customer service agent providing skilled guest service and prompt checkout
Assist with new employee training by offering positive reinforcement and feedback
Notify supervisors or managers of guest complaints and concerns
Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor or manager
