The Barista role at Olive & Finch Collective represents a critical frontline position within the operation, blending technical skill, customer service, and efficiency to deliver outstanding coffee and espresso beverages. As a Crew Level 3, non-exempt full-time position that is eligible for tips, the Barista not only prepares beverages following specific recipes and build guides but also embodies the Olive & Finch brand through exemplary service standards. Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Barista assumes all Front of House (FOH) Crew and Cashier responsibilities, including greeting guests, bussing tables, running food and beverages, operating the cash register, and maintaining a clean, organized café space.

In this role, attention to detail and a passion for coffee are paramount as the Barista operates and maintains espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment to ensure that every cup meets the brand's consistency and quality standards. The work environment is dynamic and fast-paced, requiring the ability to multitask, stay calm under pressure, and collaborate closely with both Front of House and Back of House teams to ensure seamless and efficient guest experiences. Candidates should be prepared to work mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, accommodating the café’s operational hours and guest demands.

Beyond technical skills, Olive & Finch looks for team members who are guest-focused, service-oriented, reliable, punctual, and committed to excellence. Previous barista or specialty coffee experience is preferred but not mandatory, as training and support are provided to help individuals learn and consistently apply recipes and build guides. Physical requirements include standing for extended periods and lifting up to 25 pounds, reflecting the hands-on nature of the position.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • Perform all FOH Crew responsibilities including greeting guests, bussing tables, running food and beverages, and maintaining a clean and organized dining area
  • Perform all Cashier responsibilities including ringing in orders, processing payments, reconciling cash drawers, and selling gift cards
  • Prepare and serve coffee, espresso beverages, and other drinks according to Olive & Finch recipes and build guides
  • Operate and maintain espresso machines, grinders, and brewing equipment to ensure optimal quality and consistency
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar area, including restocking supplies as needed
  • Provide friendly, efficient service to guests and answer questions about menu items
  • Follow all health, safety, and sanitation procedures, including proper milk handling and equipment cleaning
  • Collaborate with FOH and BOH teams to ensure smooth service and uphold brand standards
