The University of Tampa is currently seeking a part-time Barista to join the Sodexo team at its campus location. This role offers an hourly pay range of $16.00 to $20.00 and involves working varying shifts with open availability preferred. The Barista will play a crucial role in delivering exceptional customer service by crafting high-quality beverages and creating a welcoming environment for guests. This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in fast-paced settings and have a passion for coffee, customer interaction, and teamwork.

As a Barista at Sodexo within the University of Tampa, you will be responsible for greeting guests warmly, preparing a variety of hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, and fruit blend drinks, and ensuring customer specifications are met with precision. In addition to beverage preparation, you will maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee bar and surrounding areas, manage cash transactions responsibly, and contribute to an efficient and positive customer experience. Physical demands include the ability to walk or stand for extended periods, lift supplies up to 50 pounds occasionally, and perform other physical activities necessary for maintaining a smooth workflow.

Job Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • prior customer service work experience
  • knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, and inventory control
  • ability to handle cash transactions
  • physical capability to stand or walk for long periods
  • ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
  • open availability to work varying shifts
  • punctuality and reliability

Job Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
  • customer service related work experience
  • knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
  • Starbucks Baristas may be required to be certified

Job Duties

  • Greet all guests and provide quick, friendly, and personalized service
  • mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, café latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, while considering customer specifications
  • work to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
  • educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
  • arrange coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
  • often clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
  • record all sales, collect money, operate a cash register, and follow all cash-handling procedures as required
  • walk or stand for extended periods during shifts
  • reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds, occasionally lift/move 50 pounds
  • attend work and show for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
  • perform other duties as assigned depending on business necessities and client requirements
