The Barista role at Sodexo's Franciscan Health Olympia Fields location is a full-time position offering an hourly pay rate of $19.00. This role is fundamental in delivering exceptional customer service by crafting high-quality, hand-made beverages in a fast-paced environment. Sodexo seeks candidates with open availability as shifts and days may vary, ensuring flexibility to meet business demands. The barista will play a key part in creating a welcoming atmosphere by greeting guests warmly, serving a variety of beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccinos, lattes, teas, and specialty fruit blend drinks. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Previous customer service experience
- Knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
- Ability to stand or walk for long periods during shift
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
- Good communication skills
- Must be punctual and reliable
- Open availability preferred
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience
- Customer service related work experience
- Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, standards, and inventory control systems
- Certification as a Starbucks barista may be required
- Ability to operate cash register and handle cash transactions
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work flexible hours and varying shifts
Job Duties
- Greets all guests and provides quick, friendly, and personalized service
- Mixes and serves hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, cafe latte, tea, chai, fruit blend drinks, etc., while considering customer specifications
- Works to maintain good customer relations and speedy delivery of all beverages and food items
- Educate guests regarding menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
- Arranges coffee bar/cart supplies and cups/mugs to make attractive displays
- Cleans coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas regularly
- Records all sales, collects money, operates a cash register, and follows all cash-handling procedures
- Walks or stands for extended periods throughout the shift
- Reaches, bends, stoops, pushes, or pulls and frequently lifts up to 35 pounds and occasionally lifts or moves 50 pounds
- Attends work and shows for scheduled shifts on time with satisfactory regularity
- Performs other duties as assigned depending on business needs and client requirements
