Job Description
Sheraton Hotels and Resorts, a part of Marriott International, is a globally recognized hospitality company known for its commitment to exceptional guest experiences and vibrant community environments. Since its inception in 1937, Sheraton has become a leading hotel brand with over 400 locations worldwide, offering guests welcoming spaces that foster connection and belonging. The organization thrives on diversity, valuing the unique backgrounds, talents, and experiences of its associates. This commitment to inclusivity and excellence makes Sheraton an appealing choice for those seeking a dynamic and supportive workplace in the hospitality industry. Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is dedicated to providing equal employment opportunities and fostering a culture where all associates can thrive and contribute their best work. This position is a full-time role within this esteemed company.
The role of a Front Desk Associate at Sheraton Hotels and Resorts involves comprehensive responsibilities essential to delivering a seamless and welcoming experience for guests. This position requires the individual to perform opening and closing duties, including setting up necessary supplies and tools, cleaning all equipment and areas, and securing the premises at the end of the day. An important aspect of the job involves stocking and maintaining work areas to ensure that the environment remains well-organized and efficient throughout the work shift. The associate will handle customer orders by entering them into the MICROS cash register system and collecting payments, thus playing a direct role in the guest service and transaction process.
Preparation of food and coffee beverages is also a key duty, requiring attentiveness to the operation of appliances like coffee makers to ensure they are turned on and off at appropriate times. Maintaining cleanliness is paramount, involving regular bussing of coffee cart areas and tables, cleaning dishes, utensils, work areas, tables, and equipment throughout the shift. The position also includes essential cashier responsibilities such as obtaining the correct change for expected business levels, balancing the cash bank at the end of the shift, compiling cashier reports, resolving discrepancies, and securing the financial receipts and bank.
Safety and security are critical components of the role with the expectation that the associate will comply with company and safety policies, promptly report any accidents or unsafe conditions, and complete required safety training and certifications. Personal presentation and professionalism are also prioritized, with an emphasis on maintaining a neat uniform and appearance and protecting company assets and proprietary information.
Exceptional guest service skills are necessary, including welcoming guests according to Sheraton's standards, anticipating and addressing service needs, assisting guests with disabilities sensitively, and expressing genuine appreciation. Effective communication, teamwork, and positive relationship building with colleagues are encouraged to meet common goals and uphold quality standards. Physically, the role may require standing, sitting, or walking for extended periods, as well as performing tasks involving lifting, carrying, or moving objects up to 25 pounds and navigating various physical spaces. This position requires flexibility and a keen eye for detail to recognize defects or issues in tools, equipment, and work areas.
This full-time opportunity at Sheraton Hotels and Resorts is designed for individuals who are enthusiastic about providing excellent customer service and contributing to a positive work environment. The role offers a chance to be part of a storied brand known for its hospitality excellence while gaining valuable experience in a fast-paced hotel setting. Sheraton encourages team players eager to deliver meaningful guest experiences and grow within the Marriott International portfolio of brands to consider this rewarding career path.
