The Barista position at Sodexo, located at Cooper University Hospital, is a full-time role with a competitive hourly pay rate of $17.00. This role is scheduled for weekends only, with specific shifts that will be clarified during the interview process. As a Barista, you will play a crucial part in delivering outstanding customer service while expertly preparing handcrafted beverages. Your responsibilities will include greeting and serving customers promptly and warmly, preparing a variety of hot and cold drinks such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, tea, chai, and fruit smoothies according to customer preferences. Additionally, you will maintain strong customer relationships, educate patrons about menu offerings, and suggest additional items to enhance their experience.

This position also involves managing supplies, keeping the coffee bar and preparation areas clean and organized, handling cash transactions accurately, and adhering to inventory control and sanitation standards. Physical requirements include standing or walking for extended periods during shifts that may exceed eight hours, and the ability to lift up to 35 pounds regularly and occasionally up to 50 pounds. The role demands punctuality, reliability, and flexibility as duties might vary based on the needs of different accounts and clients.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent such as GED
  • Relevant work experience in customer service
  • Knowledge of food preparation and sanitation
  • Familiarity with inventory control methods
  • Availability to work weekends
  • Physical ability to stand or walk for long periods
  • Ability to lift up to 35 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Punctuality and reliability in attendance
  • Willingness to perform assigned duties as required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience in customer service
  • Knowledge of food preparation, sanitation, inventory control standards and systems
  • Certification as a Starbucks barista may be required

Job Duties

  • Greet all customers and provide fast, friendly, and personalized service
  • Mix and serve hot and cold beverages such as coffee, espresso, cappuccino, latte, tea, chai, fruit smoothies according to customer specifications
  • Build and maintain good relationships with customers and ensure prompt delivery of all drinks and food
  • Educate customers about menu offerings and initiate suggestive selling
  • Organize supplies and cups/mugs of the coffee cart/bar in an attractive manner
  • Regularly clean coffee machines, restaurant areas, and preparation areas
  • Record all sales, handle cash, operate a cash register, and follow all cash handling procedures as needed
  • Walk or circulate extensively during shifts
  • Ability to stand or walk for long periods that may exceed 8 hours
  • Ability to reach, bend, stoop, push and/or pull, and frequently lift up to 35 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds
  • Attend work and report to scheduled shifts on time and with regularity
  • Perform other duties as assigned depending on business needs and client requirements
